After a while you learn…
That even sunshine burns if you get too much.

So you plant your garden and decorate your own soul,
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

an excerpt from “You Learn” by Jorge Luis Borges   Originally, I attributed this poem to Jorge Luis Borges after reading it on one of The Atlantic’s blogs. I went back to the page I found it on so I could link to the full poem, and the post was gone. Odd. So I started poking around and it seems there’s more than a little debate over a) who wrote this poem; b) what the title is (if there even is one); and c) the makeup of the poem in its entirety. I guess that explains why the Atlantic scratched it.
